Dear Liberals: Hating Trump Supporters Only Helps Trump

As a Liberal, what can you do you help cut Trump's support? Would insulting Trump supporters work? Calling them racist and stupid? That only strengthens Trump's support.

How about screaming about how bad Trump is? Trump supporters love when Liberals get angry.

What if you tried to listen to a Trump supporter? Not judge them or roll your eyes. Instead, tell them calmly you don't agree but want to hear their side. Empathize. Not agree but really listen. Trump needs you to insult them to have his hold. By showing them you're not a "Radical Leftist" and actually treating them like a human, you'll cut Trump's rhetoric at the knees.

It's okay if you're triggered. Take some deep breaths and listen to their reasons. Be curious about why a reasonable person would support Trump. If they are reasonable, they will like having a conversation about ideas. And Trump hates when Liberals and Conservatives have a reasonable conversation with each other. It takes away his power.

Does the thought of actively listening to a Trump supporter make you feel sick? Be with that feeling. Acknowledge it. And do it anyway
