Why is your fight to win over conservatives going so badly? Is it because conservatives are stupid or racist?
No.
The problem is you.
The problem is you think all conservatives are stupid and racist. Nobody wants to be called that. So, out of spite, they reject Liberal ideas and elect leaders who tell them that all Liberals are radical, unamerican and evil.
Is it a healthy choice on their part? Probably not.
Does it give you an excuse to again call them stupid and racist? Absolutely not!
So, how do Liberals dig themselves out of this: Empathize with conservatives, don't demonize them.
Just like you empathize with people of different races, faiths and sexual orientations, try to empathize with conservatives too.
What are their challenges? What do they want for their families? What have they experienced in their lives to make them view the world differently?
